The Average Price of Truck Cranes in Mexico Drops by 24% to $13,510 per Unit

Mexico Truck Crane Import Price in April 2023

In April 2023, the truck crane price amounted to $13,510 per unit (CIF, Mexico), waning by -24.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 166% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $22,522 per unit in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to April 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($14,363 per unit), while the price for Canada totaled $10,143 per unit.

From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.8%).

Mexico Truck Crane Imports

In April 2023, approximately 94 units of truck cranes were imported into Mexico; rising by 6.8% against the previous month. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 with an increase of 70% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 1K units in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to April 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, truck crane imports declined dramatically to $1.3M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 with an increase of 113% month-to-month. Imports peaked at 6.8M units in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to April 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In April 2023, the United States (75 units) constituted the largest supplier of truck crane to Mexico, accounting for a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, truck crane imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Canada (19 units), fourfold.

From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume from the United States amounted to -6.2%.

Overall, exports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when exports increased by 147% against the previous month.

In value terms, aircraft launching gear exports declined slightly to $9.2M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when exports increased by 119% month-to-month.

Exports by Country

Australia (35 tons) was the main destination for aircraft launching gear exports from the United States, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, aircraft launching gear exports to Australia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Egypt (8.9 tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Ireland (8.7 tons), with an 11% share.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Australia stood at +24.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Egypt (+70.3% per month) and Ireland (+6.1% per month).

In value terms, Australia ($2.4M), France ($1.8M) and Malaysia ($1.4M) constituted the largest markets for aircraft launching gear exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 61% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Denmark, Ireland, Egypt, South Africa, Japan and India, which together accounted for a further 21%.

South Africa, with a CAGR of +43.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In May 2023, the aircraft launching gear price amounted to $118K per ton (FOB, US), declining by -10.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 367% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $482K per ton. From January 2023 to May 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($595K per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($42,809 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 42K units in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to May 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, internal combustion engines exports expanded significantly to $446M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when exports increased by 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 608M units in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to May 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Mexico (25K units) was the main destination for internal combustion engines exports from the United States, accounting for a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, internal combustion engines exports to Mexico exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Canada (7.6K units), threefold. The UK (1.9K units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5% share.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Mexico amounted to -2.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Canada (+3.0% per month) and the UK (+11.3% per month).

In value terms, Mexico ($301M) remains the key foreign market for internal combustion engines exports from the United States, comprising 68% of total exports. In value terms, loudspeaker imports amounted to $63M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. In general, imports, however, showed a slight downturn. Imports peaked at 87M units in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to May 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In May 2023, China (2.2M units) constituted the largest loudspeaker supplier to the United States, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, loudspeaker imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (410K units), fivefold. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when imports increased by 24% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 154M units in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to May 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, women knitwear imports expanded sharply to $432M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when imports increased by 14% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 821M units in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to May 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (30M units), Vietnam (23M units) and Indonesia (7.3M units) were the main suppliers of women knitwear imports to the United States, together comprising 65% of total imports. These countries were followed by Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mexico, India, Jordan and Sri Lanka, which together accounted for a further 22%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 with an increase of 50% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $332M. From November 2022 to May 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (11K units), Austria (9.8K units) and Thailand (6.1K units) were the main suppliers of motorcycle and scooter imports to the United States, together comprising 55% of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, India, Italy, Indonesia, Canada and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 37%.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the biggest increases were in motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles; fitted with an auxiliary motor, reciprocating internal combustion piston engine, of cylinder capacity exceeding 250cc but not exceeding 500cc, with or without side-cars; side-cars (with a CAGR of +0.1%), while purchases for the other products experienced a decline.

The second position in the ranking was taken by motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles; fitted with an auxiliary motor, reciprocating internal combustion piston engine, of cylinder capacity exceeding 250cc but not exceeding 500cc, with or without side-cars; side-cars ($53M), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles; fitted with an auxiliary motor, reciprocating internal combustion piston engine, of cylinder capacity exceeding 50cc but not exceeding 250cc, with or without side-cars; side-cars, with a 17% share.

Import Prices by Country

In May 2023, the motorcycle and scooter price stood at $4,783 per unit (CIF, US), falling by -3.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5.3M per thousand units. From March 2023 to May 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($20,797 per unit), while the price for China ($831 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
