Prologis, Inc., has announced that Prologis European Properties Fund II has acquired an 86,000 square foot intermodal logistics facility at Interporto Bologna, Italy. The acquisition adds to the existing 1.3 million square feet that the fund acquired in a separate transaction in 2015. The acquisition increases the size of Prologis’ portfolio at Interporto Bologna to 13 buildings.

The building is occupied by Sifte Berti, an Italian supplier of international transportation, domestic distribution, and logistics services, and by Pall-Ex Italia, a provider of express palletized distribution services. Prologis has the option to expand the facility by one-million square feet.

“This acquisition expands our presence at Interporto Bologna, a location of prime importance for logistics and transport in Italy,” said Sandro Innocenti, senior vice president, country manager, Prologis Italy.

Built in 2005, the facility was developed for parcel courier services and is equipped with a temperature-controlled room for storing medication for distribution to drugstores in the Bologna area.

Prologis owns and manages over ten-million square feet of distribution space in Italy as of September 30, 2015. Its logistics parks are located in the Milan area (Paullo, Lodi, Novara, Piacenza, Castel San Giovanni, Cornaredo, Arena Po, Cortemaggiore), Pavia (Siziano), Turin (Trofarello, Settimo Torinese), Bologna (Interporto, Castel San Pietro), Padua, and Rome.
