AgFlow, a Switzerland-based provider of agricultural trade intelligence, and Brazilian port operations company Alphamar have partnered to bring Brazil inland and port logistics data and news onto AgFlow’s data platform.

Agricultural commodities traders and shipping professionals around the globe now have an easy way to access the current situation in all major Brazilian ports.

Brazil is second only to the U.S. in world agricultural exports, shipping annually over 100 million tons of agricultural commodities and products, including 40 million tons of soybeans and 20 million tons of corn, to Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Due to its massive size and geographical diversity, Brazil is known in the trade for the complexity of its logistics. This complexity often translates to delays at the port terminals, and this affects not only the pace of Brazilian exports, but also the global shipping and commodities markets.

In a market where access to reliable data is complicated and often non-existent, AgFlow and Alphamar have a common view. Their ambition is to bring online an exhaustive view of the port situation in Brazil and an easy way to track the country’s exports of grains and oilseeds.

“The partnership with Alphamar extends AgFlow’s physical market coverage to port logistics,” said Thomas Ceglia, business development manager for Brazil at AgFlow. “We are excited to contribute to a greater understanding of export dynamics in Brazil, a key origin for the global trade of agricultural products.”

“AgFlow’s data platform is well adapted to the reality of physical markets and enjoys growing industry support,” said Marcelo Neri, Alphamar director. “There are strong synergies between our two companies and the data we provide. Alphamar is pleased to be partnering with AgFlow in order to showcase our expertise on Brazil’s logistics to a global audience of trade professionals and to help them forecast the logistical conditions better.”

AgFlow is a web-based trade intelligence platform providing information flows on grains, oilseeds, and vegetable oils physical markets. Launched in November 2013, the Swiss company now serves more than 110 clients globally as a central information hub of the industry.

Alphamar is a shipping agency services and port operations company founded in Santos, Brazil, in 1999. Alphamar operates a team of professionals with an accurate technical knowledge in the areas of ship agency, port operations, and vessel chartering.
