Florida Based Snack Factory Acquires Utz Plant in Indiana
Automation and Tech cited as key factors to Florida factory success and expansion.
Superpufft Snack Factory, located in Perry, Florida announces it will assume ownership of an Utz Potato Chip Factory in Bluffton, Indiana. The private acquisition was completed and verified through SEC filings September 29th.
Superpufft headquarter is based in Perry Florida and is the largest private employer in the region providing 330 jobs. The estimated economic impact from both wages and wholesale operations is $603Million. ( 2.74 multipler ) The company also is the largest privately held snack company in the United States. The factory was purchased in 2018 and invested more than $60M to utilize state of the art equipment, technical innovations and engineering processes. Superpufft is a progressive employer that offers below market and sliding scale housing rates to its employees through their real estate holdings. Future employee housing will include products and incentives for home ownership for its employees.

The former Utz plant in Indiana, offers a strategic logistics location for Superpufft for expansion in national distribution to the midwest and the larger markets. Superpufft will assume operations and keep the former Utz employees of Indiana as it begins tech automation and market expansion. Utz Kettle chips are a beloved brand with roots in Pennsylvania. Superpufft had been making the popular Utz chips for the southeastern United States at the plant in Perry, Florida.
