Southern California-based Chromalloy has officially dedicated its new state-of-the-art gas turbine engine machining facility in Guaymas, Mexico.

The company’s new 36,000 square foot manufacturing plant will serve as a dedicated precision machining facility for manufacturing new engine components.

“This brand-new plant is a significant part of our growth strategy as a global supplier in the new engine supply chain,” said Thomas Mepham, CEO of the Sequa Corporation, Chromalloy’s parent. “We are doubling our previous Guaymas capacity and growing the workforce.”

The Guaymas facility will be online in January 2016 producing high and low pressure gas turbine engine components, including blades and segments.

Customers include aircraft engine manufacturers and manufacturers of heavy industrial gas turbines. The plant has the capacity to machine up to 68,000 gas turbine engine components a year and offer ancillary services include multi axis machining, grinding, milling, Electro Discharge Machining (EDM), and inspection, the company said.

The new plant was designed to replace Chromalloy’s adjacent 17,000 square foot facility at the Roca Fuerte Industrial Park, which opened its doors in 2009. The company also operates a gas turbine engine component repair center in Mexicali, Mexico.

Chromalloy operates a global network of 11 gas turbine engine repair and manufacturing centers, operations facilities and offices technologically advanced repairs, coatings, investment castings, and services for turbine airfoils and other critical engine components to turbine engine manufacturers and operators in the  commercial aerospace, defense and energy sectors.
