WATCH: Trump Tells Coast Guard He’ll Build Icebreakers
When President Donald Trump addressed graduates of the Coast Guard Academy last week, he pledged to build icebreaker ships that the Coast Guard has long sought to be able to navigate polar waterways. Icebreaking capabilities are considered crucial for navigation of Arctic trade routes, and for national security reasons. But, according to a report in the Washington Post, it’s not clear how Trump’s plans differs from a plan established during the Obama administration.
