U.S. Import Prices Show No Annual Change in December
Data from the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, reported by Reuters, indicates U.S. import prices showed no change in December compared to the same month a year earlier. This followed a revised 0.1 percent decline in November.

The Bureau reported a 0.1 percent increase in import prices from November to December. It did not publish the typical monthly change figures for October and November due to last year’s federal government shutdown, which prevented the collection of survey data for October. A detailed press release for the December data was also omitted because of a compressed release schedule following the 43-day shutdown.
The Bureau clarified that a more recent three-day government shutdown did not impact data collection for its price indexes.
