U.S. Approves Export of Advanced AI Chips to UAE
The U.S. government has given the green light for the export of cutting-edge artificial intelligence chips to a facility operated by Microsoft in the United Arab Emirates, as part of a partnership with Emirati AI firm G42. This development was reported by Axios, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The export approval aligns with the United States’ robust international trade activities in the electronic chip sector. According to data from the IndexBox platform, the total export value of electronic chips from the U.S. in 2023 was a substantial $42.4 billion USD. Significant export partners include Mexico with $11.9 billion, China with $5.1 billion, and Taiwan with $4.6 billion. The collaboration between Microsoft and G42 potentially opens new avenues for U.S. companies engaging in high-tech exports.
Moreover, the U.S. import value for electronic chips in 2023 was $35.5 billion, showcasing the country’s strong dependency on imports to meet its technological demand. Top importing partners include Malaysia ($9.6 billion), Taiwan ($7.3 billion), and South Korea ($2.4 billion), reflecting a diverse and strategic sourcing strategy.
As the global demand for AI technology grows, the export of advanced AI chips not only strengthens U.S.-UAE economic ties but also highlights the significant role the U.S. plays in the international electronic chip market.
