Prime Distribution Services (PDS), a Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Inc. company that provides warehousing, consolidation and transportation solutions, announced the opening of its new location in Plainfield, Indiana, last week. This is the second Plainfield facility for the company.

The new location, referred to as Airtech, has 300,000 square feet of warehousing space, allowing the facility to accommodate up to 20,000 pallets. It also has 30 dock doors so trucks can be loaded and unloaded quickly and systematically. The Airtech facility will offer dry warehousing space, with refrigerated warehousing solutions continuing to be offered at the PDS Allpoints Facility in Plainfield.

The new PDS location will utilize state-of-the-art technology to manage day-to-day operations, including Radio frequency picking and advanced automated case picking software to increase speed and accuracy. The facility also has a state-of-the-art racking system throughout the entirety of the warehouse.

Since 2003, all PDS warehouses, including the new Airtech facility, are certified by the American Institute of Baking (AIB) and have maintained superior ratings. The AIB certification signifies that PDS has consistently achieved and maintained exceptional standards of cleanliness for food safety assurance.
