MOL LNG Carrier Rescues Castaways

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that on March 1, the MOL-operated LNG carrier SURYA AKI safely rescued two survivors about 50 miles offshore of Indonesia.

At 12:05 local time on March 1, , the SURYA AKI, sailing to Port of Bontang, Indonesia, found two drifting persons and immediately changed course to approach the castaways, and started rescue operations. At 12:46 of the same day, the survivors were safely rescued.

Five and a half hours later the survivors were turned over to a ship of the Indonesian authorities.

The SURYA AKI, is a Bahamas-registry ship with an Indonesian crew and gross tonnage of 20,524 metric tons.
