Lineage Logistics, a warehousing and logistics company held a grand opening for its state-of-the-art 180,000 square-foot cold storage distribution center in Charleston County, South Carolina.

The new facility offers immediate access to the port of Charleston and I-26, with regular rail service through Norfolk Southern.

“We see tremendous growth over the next ten years that will bring an extremely positive economic impact to this community and beyond,” said Mike McClendon, executive vice president of Lineage Logistics. “South Carolina is truly a business-welcoming state, and we certainly appreciate the many incentives that we have received as a part of this project and are undoubtedly excited about our future here.”

The opening of the Lineage facility “is a major part of who we are in South Carolina,” said South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “It shows our strong investment in infrastructure is helping us build a first-rate environment for economic development.”

The new distribution center deploys the latest technology for energy conservation, product handling and high-capacity blast freezing. The facility is designed to provide customers a highly efficient solution for exporting products to foreign markets and expediting domestic access to imported products.

Services at the Charleston facility include rail and transload, freight consolidation, blast freezing, import/export, and custom labeling and stamping. The 21-acre lot has 30 truck doors and four rail doors, as well as parking for 100 autos.
