Kuehne + Nagel, a global freight forwarder and third-party logistics provider, is launching a new digital solution for quotations and booking of door-to-door less-than-containerload (LCL) services.

The company’s KN FreightNet for Airfreight was launched in 2014.

LCL is an important segment of Kuehne + Nagel’s sea freight business, a company statement noted.

“Obtaining quotes and placing bookings is often a time-consuming process that may cause delays,” the statement said. “Using KN FreightNet for LCL, customers can obtain quotes for export and import shipments online within seconds and are able to place their orders faster than ever. No pre-registration is needed as the platform can be accessed by everyone.”

“We are proud to be the pioneer in our industry to make LCL quotations and bookings as easy as possible for our customers,” said Otto Schacht, executive vice president for sea logistics at Kuehne + Nagel. “The speed and simplicity of KN FreightNet for LCL are the key elements of this innovative digital solution. Even highly complex door-to-door requests are calculated in seconds.”

Quotations are based on simple shipment details such as place of origin, final destination, weight, and volume. Users receive a clearly structured overview of the all-inclusive door-to-door price including all applicable surcharges, as well as the estimated transit time. At this point a booking can be made or the offer, valid for 30 days, can be saved for later use.

Users can also, with the KN Login iPhone App, determine the status and transportation details of the LCL shipment while the shipment is in transit.

A similar KN FreightNet solution for over-the-road freight will be available soon, the company said.
