Kalmar has introduced Kalmar Insight, a performance management and improvement solution that offers terminals a real-time view of their productivity and performance.

The solution was developed based on customer feedback and Kalmar’s experience with automated terminals. It brings the performance monitoring benefits from automated terminals to manual operations.

Kalmar Insight is a cloud-based software service that combines data from equipment fleets, terminal operating systems (TOS), and the terminals’ maintenance management systems (MMS). The solution aggregates the data from these sources and displays the most relevant information on a single user interface with simple dashboards.

“Kalmar Insight helps terminals make sense of big data in order to harness its power,” said Kimmo Kallioniemi, vice president for service business development at Kalmar. “For the first time terminal operators will have a real-time view of their productivity and performance as it is actually occurring.”

The Kalmar solution helps terminals to plan ahead and focus on the essentials in their daily business. “We have tailored dashboards for different user groups, senior management, operations management, maintenance management, and health and safety officers,” said Kallioniemi. “Kalmar Insight provides for the first time a common platform and a holistic view for all of these user groups, allowing them to take immediate actions to remove possible bottle necks, ensure fleet availability and optimize productivity.”

Kalmar offers cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, distribution centers, and to heavy industry. Kalmar is an industry forerunner in terminal automation and in energy efficient container handling, with one in four container movements around the globe being handled by a Kalmar solution.

Kalmar is part of Cargotec. Cargotec’s sales in 2015 totaled approximately $4.1 billion and it employs almost 11,000 people.
