Ocean

The vast majority of international shipments will be consigned to ocean carriers. Shipments that do not need to be expedited will move much less expensively by ocean. Shippers that are able to time their production and consignment of products accurately, and who work with the best ocean carriers and 3PLs, can actually achieve just-in-time delivery of their products by ocean, thanks to these highly sophisticated and well run services.

Ocean vessels are usually desinged to carry specific kinds of cargo, such as containers, bulk, breakbulk, roll on-roll off (Ro/Ro) etc. There are also multipurpose vessels that can carry a combination of different kinds of cargoes.
