  • The Charleston office is Total Quality Logistics’ first location in West Virginia.
  • Gov. Tomblin: W.V. offers value for business looking for a top-notch workforce and a strong business climate.
  • TQL president: Charleston offers opportunity to attract talent from surrounding colleges and universities.

Total Quality Logistics (TQL), announced the opening of its latest location in Charleston, the capital of West Virginia.

The new Charleston office will open with six founding members and anticipates adding another 70 to 80 sales representatives in the next three years.

TQL is one of the largest freight brokerage firms in North America. The Charleston office is TQL’s first location in the Mountain State.

West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin welcomed TQL to the state. “West Virginia offers tremendous value for business and industry looking for a top-notch workforce and a strong business climate,” Tomblin said. “Total Quality Logistics’ investment demonstrates the competitive edge found in the Mountain State that allows businesses to relocate, establish roots, and create jobs in West Virginia for West Virginians.”

“We are excited to expand our footprint in the mid-Atlantic region,” said TQL president Kerry Byrne. “Charleston offers an opportunity to attract top talent from surrounding colleges and universities who are interested in a challenging and rewarding sales career with our company. Prior experience in the logistics industry is not necessary as new hires with the company participate in a five-month training program.”

TQL has announced other expansions in recent weeks. In early October the company announced the expansion of its logistics operation in Daytona Beach, Volusia County, Florida, that will create 100 new jobs.

The Daytona Beach expansion came in addition to the recent announcement that TQL will add a new carrier services division to its operations in Tampa, which is expected to create up to 200 new jobs.

In late August, the company announced it was establishing logistics and sales operations in Richland County, South Carolina. The company is investing $565,000 in that facility, creating an expected 100 new jobs over the next five years.

TQL is a freight brokerage firm that matches companies needing products moved, primarily full truckload shipments, with carriers that can move them. Fortune magazine this year recognized the company as one of the 2015 Best Workplaces for Millennials.
