Mercedes Benz to Develop New Texas Facilities
The PDC – one of six the company maintains in the U.S. – will cover 254,000 square feet and support the sales and distribution of spare parts to the auto company’s dealer network.
The 59,000 square foot LPC will be relocated from Houston and serve as a “high-end technical facility to accommodate on-going training of Mercedes-Benz dealership technicians from around the Southwest region.”
Once fully operational, the new Texas training facility will be staffed with approximately 50 full-time employees with the ability to train 150 to 200 technicians per week. MBUSA operates four additional Learning & Performance Centers in New Jersey, Illinois, California, and Florida.
MBUSA has executed a development agreement with commercial real estate developer Seefried Industrial Properties and will purchase the project upon completion.
Atlanta, Georgia-headquartered Seefried is developing the project in partnership with an unnamed “long-time European capital partner.” Initial work on the two-part project began last month, with full construction scheduled to start in March.
Target completion and occupancy date is slated for January 2017, with full operations commencing March 1, 2017.
