Wen-Parker India (WPL) has been awarded an NVOCC license in Chennai after a detailed assessment and study by Indian Customs.

The NVOCC license will allow WPL to expand its portfolio of services for inbound and outbound cargo in Chennai, located in eastern India on the Bay of Bengal.

Wen-Parker’s strategically located container freight station will help facilitate services using leading edge technology to do buyer consolidations, container stuffing, container pick up, customs clearance and delivery,” said Vikas Khullar managing director for the South Asia region for Wen-Parker India.

Chennai is one of six stations in India and part of a 26 office network for Wen-Parker Logistics worldwide. Other stations in India are located in Bangalore, Cochin, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Wen-Parker Logistics is also in the process of securing a license for Mumbai to further expand its service network.

We are adding local and seasoned logistics professionals to our staff that will continue to deliver value to our business partners,” said Khular. “This expansion of WPL’s brand is critical for our ongoing business development.”

WPL currently services more than 80 countries across six continents and has been recognized as a top 3PL for 2015 and 2016 by Global Trade magazine. Founded in 1997, Wen-Parker has grown quickly as it established itself as a leading freight-forwarding company with offices now located in the United States and Asia. Though its extensive air, sea and ground transportation services are strategically headquartered within close proximity of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, the company soon found it necessary to expand to locations overseas and now maintains offices in China and in India.

Global Trade magazine noted that “the company has particular skill when it comes to fashion and cosmetics, offering end-to-end freight forwarding and supply-chain solutions as well as such fashion specialties as garments on hanger (GOH), origin consolidation and pick and pack.”
