Wincanton, the largest British logistics firm, has partnered with Majestic Wine, the UK’s largest specialist retailer of wine, to implement a new national fulfilment center at its shared user site in Greenford.

As part of a five-year agreement, Wincanton will store, pick, pack and deliver over four-million Majestic Wine goods per year, including fine wines, gift packs, and seasonal items, to fulfil individual online customer orders.

The partnership between Wincanton and Majestic will give customers access to over 1,250 wines, one of the largest ranges in the United Kingdom, along with click and collect, named, and next-day delivery options. It will take tasks away from the stores and give Majestic’s people more time to focus on their customers as 40 percent of all online orders will be fulfilled through the national fulfilment center.

Wincanton’s retail experience and flexible service, based on a specialist warehouse management ssytem is ideally suited to ecommerce operations. Wincanton’s track record in supporting companies that are implementing transformational change has, and will continue, to provide Majestic with best practice examples from across the multichannel retail market.

“Customer service is our key focus at Majestic and the launch of the national fulfilment center will be an important part of our transformation plan,” said John Colley, Managing Director of Majestic Wine Retail. “Wincanton’s flexibility, expertise and knowledge of retailers and the ecommerce space has been vital in this process and the site will greatly improve our customer service online and in-store as a result.”

“Consumers increasingly expect more flexibility and choice from their retailers,” said Liam McElroy, Managing Director, Retail & Consumer at Wincanton. “At Wincanton, we have the expertise, systems, and infrastructure that are needed to help retailers of all sizes grow, fulfill multichannel orders, and deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience. Through this partnership with Majestic, we’ve developed a joined up ecommerce fulfilment solution that will support them as they transform their business into a customer-focused multichannel retailer.”
