DP World has unveiled EcoRoute, an integrated suite aimed at enabling businesses to enhance supply chain performance and lower emissions through network design, greener logistics options, emissions tracking, and collaborative alliances.

This offering tackles the twin pressures confronting global supply chains, where freight and logistics generate about 10 percent of worldwide energy-related CO2 emissions, while stricter regulations, investor scrutiny, and consumer demands continually elevate performance expectations.

EcoRoute is organized around four key pillars. The first involves optimized supply chain network design that weighs cost, speed, and emissions to build more efficient and resilient operations. In Africa, DP World’s centralized Logistics Control Tower solution allowed a major retailer to boost transported volumes by 45% while increasing fleet size by just 5%, reaching 88% vehicle utilization and reinforcing supply chain resilience.

The second pillar delivers lower-carbon logistics via modal shift programs, alternative fuel and electric transport options, and greener warehouse facilities. In India, a multimodal rail-to-coastal solution on the Chennai to Kolkata corridor enabled a customer to cut transport emissions by 78% while enhancing reliability and reducing logistics expenses.

The third pillar, carbon insetting, focuses on Scope 3 emissions by assisting customers in cutting emissions within their own supply chains rather than depending on external offsets. Through carbon inset initiatives at Southampton and London Gateway, DP World produced over 9,400 tonnes of verified CO2 insets across 257,000 TEU of cargo flows in 2025 alone.

The fourth pillar provides emissions measurement and visibility through DP World’s Carbon Emissions Calculator, powered by EcoTransIT World and compliant with ISO 14083, offering comprehensive emissions visibility across transport modes to help customers pinpoint reduction opportunities.

Beat Simon, DP World Group Chief Operating Officer for Logistics, positioned the platform on the premise that a well-integrated supply chain is naturally more sustainable, leveraging connectivity, data, and operational know-how across DP World’s global network. Ayla Bajwa, DP World Group Senior Vice President for Sustainability, described EcoRoute as a method to convert sustainability aspirations into operational reality, equipping customers with the tools and collaborations needed to lower emissions while achieving broader environmental and social benefits throughout their supply chains.
