Going to a box to open a box to retrieve a box holding an Xbox? That’s what played out at one minute past midnight on Nov. 7 in the Greater Paris area, where Cdiscount customers became the first gamers in France to get their hands on Microsoft’s Xbox One X consoles.

How? Through the coordinated efforts of the Redmond, Washington-based multinational technology company, the French ecommerce website and Bolloré Logistics’ offices on both continents. Those who preordered the latest Xbox consoles through Cdiscount before Nov. 2 had the option of picking them up at one of 52 Bolloré Logistics’ 52 Bluedistrib relays, which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

At one past midnight on Nov. 7, the day Microsoft made the consoles available to the public, the participating Cdiscount customers received a SMS text message with a security code that opened their designated parcel lockers at one of the Bluedistrib relays—before the first retail stores would open at 8 a.m.

This is a highly secure logistics operation that combines physical and high-tech flows in order to guarantee to our partners Cdiscount and Microsoft, who place their trust in us, that there will be no distribution before the agreed time,” says Sandrine Ressayre, a director with Bluedistrib, which used the “prestigious operation” to mark the launch of a new range of offers that bring together event logistics and the communication of event coverage. Bolloré Logistics USA says these operations can be mirrored for partners during important events such as private sales, product launches and the start of sales periods.

DACHSER PUTS THE BIG D IN DALLAS

Dachser USA Air & Sea Logistics has experienced such large growth in recent years that it announced in November the move to a larger Dallas area office. Headquartered in Atlanta, Dachser first opened its Dallas office in October of 2011, and it will remain close to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to satisfy an increased demand for access to Asian markets, import/export with Europe (especially Germany) and air and sea freight services for customers in the region. The office at 801 Hanover Drive, Suite 250, Grapevine, Texas, will be led by Erion Hormoviti, who was recently appointed general manager of the South-Central region for Dachser USA, and from Dallas the 15-year logistics and freight forwarding veteran will oversee that branch as well as Houston’s.

HUB GROUP’S #CAUSECONTAINER KEEPS ON DELIVERING HOPE

Oak Brook, Illinois-based Hub Group, Inc., one of the largest multi-modal transportation solutions providers in North America, announced on Nov. 1 that more than $150,000 has been raised to date through its award-winning #CauseContainer marketing campaign, which has entered its third year. Featuring custom-painted, 53-foot intermodal containers that serve as mobile billboards and can be tracked in real-time, the campaign raises awareness and funds for various charity organizations. Newly painted containers, which have pushed the fleet up to 13, benefit these nonprofits: National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks; Chicago Blackhawks Charities, the National Hockey League team’s official charity; Bright Pink, which educates about breast and ovarian cancer prevention and early detection; the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the top children’s hospital in Illinois; and Fisher House Foundation, which provides free housing to military, veterans and their families during times of medical crisis.

The Cause Container campaign transports a message of hope and action—not only for the charities we are proud to have as partners, but for our employees and customers too,” says Donald G. Since #CauseContainer began in October 2015, the eye-catching containers have traveled more than 412,000 miles on the nation’s roads and rails, providing at least 55 million impressions, worth an ad equivalency of nearly $2 million, according to the Hub Group, which donates $100 to the corresponding charity each time a unique photo of a #CauseContainer is posted on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn. U.S. OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY HELPS GET CARGOLOGICAIR FLYING

What does the U.S. oil and gas industry have to do with Britain’s only all-cargo airline getting off to a flying start with its first scheduled route—to the Middle East, no less? Everything, according to CargoLogicAir, which is headquartered at London Stansted Airport and currently operates a fleet of three modern Boeing 747s capable of transporting up to 135 tonnes of cargo. Departing from that airport every Wednesday and Saturday, the flights to Mexico City via Frankfurt, Houston, Atlanta and Abu Dhabi began in mid-August, following the airline receiving an Air Operator Certificate from the UK Civil Aviation Authority in January 2016.

The level of support from customers in the U.S. for our first scheduled cargo route has been exceptional, and particularly the amount of oil and gas cargo we have carried so far,” remarked Steve Harvey, CLA’s chief commercial officer, at a special customer event the airline and Houston Airports hosted at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. “This reinforces our strong confidence in international demand for high quality all-cargo services as well as the positive growth of the U.S. economy.”
