The Container Store, a leading retailer of storage and organization products, has set its sights on Harford County to build and lease a 600,000 square-foot distribution center at the Eastgate 95 Industrial Park in Perryman. This will be the brand’s second core distribution center—a much needed and anticipated addition to their main facility in Coppell, Texas, where the company is headquartered.

The company’s supply chain team will oversee the implementation of its newest distribution center promoting improved efficiency with technology upgrades to include a multi-level pick module, automated sortation, voice directed picking and an enhanced warehouse management software suite.  “We selected Aberdeen to expand our supply chain footprint for many reasons, but especially its strong workforce and the ease the location afforded us to better service 30-plus stores along the East Coast,” said Val Richardson, vice president of real estate for The Container Store.

The Aberdeen distribution center will carry the full line of The Container Store merchandise assortment to best serve retail store and direct to customer order processing.

The project is expected to create 150 full-time jobs by the end of 2019 in the area with the goal of being fully operational by late fall of the same year.  The team will also focus on ensuring the strong company culture comes to life in the community.

“The true purpose of this new build is to improve service levels to our stores and customers while reducing transportation time and expenses,” said Amy Carovillano, vice president of supply chain for The Container Store. “We know that this new distribution center will also be key in increasing the capacity of our supply chain for future growth.”
