CMA CGM launches Mediterranean/Ecuador Service
CMA CGM has launched its new Med Gulf Ecuador service (MGE), offering a direct connection between the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador.
The service started on December in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and has an expected rotation of 19 days.
Transshipment connections with other CMA CGM Group services offered in Malta are expected to provide full export solutions for Ecuadorian producers towards all global consumer markets around the world, such as the Mediterranean Sea, North Africa, and the Middle East.
“By launching this new line, CMA CGM positions itself as a major player on the Ecuadorian reefer market and offers its clients the best service to the Mediterranean,” said Xavier Eiglier, CMA CGM Caribbean and Latin America Lines vice president. “The company also provides multiple export opportunities to numerous markets for North and South American clients, thanks to calls at Kingston and Malta Group’s hubs.”
According to the company, CMA CGM offers the only direct service on the market between the Gulf of Mexico and Ecuador. CMA CGM also provides the only direct and weekly service between the Gulf of Mexico (Veracruz, Altamira, Houston and New Orleans) and Ecuador (Guayaquil) with additional transport services offered to Peru, Chile and Colombia.
The new rotation will be as follows: Malta, Livorno, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, Tangier, Caucedo, Kingston, Veracruz, Altamira, Houston, New Orleans, Kingston, Cartagena, Guayaquil, Kingston then back to Malta. CMA CGM will operate all nine 2,100- to 2,500-TEU capacity vessels on the route, with ample reefer capacity.
