NEW YORK. August 12, 2015 — Cargomatic, a technology platform that connects shippers and truckers, announced its official launch into the New York City metropolitan market today.

Cargomatic is an app that allows shippers to locate nearby truckers who have available freight capacity.

“We are thrilled to bring Cargomatic to New York,” said Jonathan Kessler, the company’s CEO. “We have experienced 10x growth over the past year, which makes us confident that the transparency and efficiency that Cargomatic provides will be embraced in the nation’s largest metropolitan region, and at its second busiest port.”

Cargomatic has been in beta stage in New York since early 2015 and has helped expedite thousands of local shipments throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Shippers already utilizing the Cargomatic app include manufacturers, startups and logistics companies like Amazon, Boxed Wholesale, Capacity LLC and BNSF Logistics.

“Our growing network of shippers and truckers love how Cargomatic instantly connects them,” said Dan Harman, General Manager of Cargomatic’s New York office. “Tracking their freight online in real-time gives shippers peace of mind, while truckers are thrilled to be making more money by filling empty space on their trucks.”

“Traditional local trucking companies require endless follow-up for quotes and tracking,” said Tahsin Meteoglu, regional director of MIQ Logistics in Newark, New Jersey. “With Cargomatic these processes are seamless so we can focus on growing our business instead of tracking deliveries.”

The Los Angeles-based Cargomatic has been serving Southern California since early 2014, completing tens of thousands of shipments in that region. The company’s work to alleviate congestion at the port of Los Angeles has been repeatedly praised by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and was highlighted in July in Washington D.C. during a U.S. Senate subcommittee hearing on emerging transportation technologies.

“One of the best aspects of Cargomatic is that is democratizes technology,” said Kessler, “allowing our clients, many of whom are small business owners and first-generation Americans, to benefit from technology for the first time in their professional lives.”
