  • TNT Express is the latest logistics company to report being hit by the Petya virus attack.
  • Maersk was hit by virus attack earlier this week
  • The Petya virus started in Ukraine and has since spread to 63 other countries.

TNT Express, which was acquired by FedEx last year, is the latest logistics company to report being hit by the Petya virus attack.

Maersk, the largest ocean container carrier, was hit by the virus earlier this week, compromising some of the company’s systems. Maersk has since said that the attack has been “contained.”

TNT Express announced a short time ago that is is “experiencing interference with some of our systems…”

The company added that it is “implementing remediation steps as quickly as possible to support customers…” TNT added that shippers are experiencing “limited interruption in pick-up and delivery operations.” The company’s online systems appear to be down, but the company said that “no data breach is known to have occurred.”

The Petya virus started in Ukraine and has since spread to 63 other countries. Computer security experts are saying that Petya attack was not intended to make money but to destroy infected computers. The demand for ransom, which victims of the attack received, according to this theory, is a cover for an attack of wiper malware.

FedEx said that the financial impact of the attack was unknown at this point but that it could be “substantial.”
