Amazon to Open Fulfillment Center in Fall River, Mass.

Amazon.com plans to open a fulfillment center in Fall River, Massachusetts, a facility which will bring more than 500 full-time jobs to the area.

Amazon currently operates a sortation center in Stoughton and also has research and technology offices throughout Massachusetts.

“Our footprint in Massachusetts continues to grow,” said Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations. “We currently employ hundreds of developers, engineers, and scientists. Now we will add hundreds of additional full-time associates in our first fulfillment center in the state. Massachusetts is a great place to do business and we are excited to be creating more jobs.”

“Amazon’s presence in Fall River and their commitment to create hundreds of new jobs will bring an important economic boost to one of our gateway cities and the surrounding region,” said Charlie Baker governor of Massachusetts. “Our administration is focused on paving the way for more companies to grow and expand in the Commonwealth and increasing economic opportunities available for our residents to succeed.”

The jobs created in Fall River will be eligible for comprehensive benefits on day one that include health insurance, 401(k) with 50 percent match, bonuses, company stock awards and a network of support to help ensure employees succeed. Hourly employees at Amazon fulfillment centers enjoy maternity and paternity leave benefits. These benefits offer up to 20 weeks of paid leave, a flexible Ramp Back Program, and a Leave Share Program that allows employees the ability to share their paid leave with their spouse or partner.

The more than a million-square-foot fulfillment center in Fall River will be developed by the Trammell Crow Company.
