  • A new giant corrugated cardboard company has opened its doors on the New Mexico/Mexico border.
  • Cardboard company opens on Mexico birder because so many things are being made in the area that they need boxes fast.
  • CSI will invest more than $31 million towards infrastructure, production equipment, and the renovation of new facility.

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez joined local officials and Corrugated Synergies International (CSI) Executives to celebrate the grand opening of CSI’s new Santa Teresa facility earlier this month.

CSI is headquartered in Renton, Washington and is an innovative leader in sheet feeding to the corrugated cardboard industry.

In addition to creating 120 new jobs, CSI will invest more than $31 million towards infrastructure, production equipment, and the renovation of their new facility. This was a competitive project; New Mexico beat out Nevada for the expansion.

“Our business friendly reforms are bringing good jobs to New Mexico,” said Martinez. “When we create a business-friendly environment, we attract companies, like Corrugated Synergies International, that make an incredible difference in our communities by creating good jobs for New Mexicans.”

CSI cited New Mexico’s workforce and business-friendly environment as some of the reasons for choosing New Mexico for their new facility location.

The New Mexico Economic Development Department will invest up to $1 million in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds in the expansion. LEDA is New Mexico’s closing fund, a tool that recruits new businesses to the state while helping those that are already here grow and thrive. Martinez fought to grow the closing fund to $56 million, up from nearly zeroed out when she took office.

Under Martinez, New Mexico has invested nearly $130 million in infrastructure improvements in Santa Teresa to attract businesses to the area, including roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation, flood control, water & wastewater infrastructure, roads, an airport fire station, and a port of entry visitor center, among others.

CSI is a project development and operational services company specializing in the corrugated packaging industry, founded in 1982.
