MoU to Boost International Trade Efforts
Honduras National Port Authority joins forces with Port Everglades through a Memorandum of Understanding this week, in support of the Everglades Sister Seaport Program, according to a release earlier this week.
High-level initiatives and goals include market studies, modernization and improvements as well as training and other marketing efforts between the two ports. The subject of information sharing was the first of many anticipated to kick-off following the official signing between Everglades Business Development Manager Robert Barcelo and Honduras port representatives. As trade goals and initiatives are reviewed and discussed, we can only expect for the current numbers to continue strengthening and breaking new records in port capabilities and partnerships.
The two ports are a great match for the other, as Honduras boasts the number one spot in overall TEUs and the largest trading partner by volume within the Port. Everglades ranks number one in the U.S. in regards to trade relations with Honduras with an estimated $2.12 billion in goods that go through it.
According to the release, the MoU describes the relations between Honduras and Everglades as they share “their mutual interest to establish an alliance of cooperation aimed at facilitating international trade and generating new business by promoting the all-water routes.”
