Evergreen Line has chosen PortMiami for its expanded cargo services from the United States Atlantic Coast to the Far East by way of CMA CGM’s PEX 3 service. The first call is scheduled for August on the CMA-CGM CHATEU D’IF.

The new rotation, which includes transit on the newly expanded Panama Canal, will call at the following ports: Singapore, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Manzanillo, Houston, Mobile, PortMiami, Jacksonville, Durban, and Singapore.

PortMiami has been steadily capturing new trade. It posted its strongest container traffic in over a decade in fiscal year 2015, with a total of over one-million TEU. Miami is also ranked among the fastest-growing seaports in the nation.

“Our port is now a major global gateway,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “It has been steadily capturing new trade, and I’m confident that with the newly expanded Panama Canal we will continue to see this trend. PortMiami’s more than $1 billion of completed infrastructure projects are paying off.”

“PortMiami has been working to expand cargo services from the Far East,” added Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, chairman of the Trade and Tourism Committee and the International Trade Consortium Board. “Expanding Evergreen’s service at the port was a key objective during our International Trade Consortium’s Trade Mission to Taiwan last April. I’m proud that cargo lines, including Evergreen, are rerouting to PortMiami and contributing to the port’s economic growth, thus generating more trade opportunities for Miami-Dade County.”

“Cargo lines such as Evergreen are expanding their services at PortMiami thanks to several factors,” said Port Director and CEO Juan M. Kuryla. “We offer our partners a 50- to 52-foot water depth to handle the fully loaded big ships transiting the newly expanded Panama Canal. Intermodal on-dock rail service provides rapid turnaround for the movement of both imports and exports while delivering a seamless network reaching 70 percent of the U.S. market within four days and a tunnel directly connects to the U.S. interstate highway system.”
