Digitization Efforts Earn Award for Cargo System in Hong Kong
Hactl – also known as the Hong Kong Cargo Terminal, receives the “Smart Airport Technovation Award of Operational Excellence” at the Smart Airport Technovation Awards in Hong Kong, according to a release. The company, known as the largest independent cargo handler was awarded for its project focusing on “Smart Cargo Locating” which has since been implemented in the Hong Kong Airport’s SuperTerminal 1 facility.
“Smart Cargo Locating eliminates manual data input, eradicating potential keying errors. It then makes retrieval simpler and faster, helping us to streamline our processes, improve efficiency and further enhance our customer service,” comments Senior Manager Eric Poon. “We are very grateful to HKIA for recognizing our achievement with the new Smart Cargo Locating system.”
The digitally supported system is capable of identifying the cargo and the geo-locations and final destinations. The all-in-one system provides seamless transition information from start to finish for each piece of cargo put in its path.
“When the cargo is needed for pallet build-up before a flight, the forklift driver is directed to the cargo’s racking location, and is provided with a photographic image to further assist identification of the cargo,” states the release.
This is yet another advancement benefiting business operations in the world of upcoming technological innovations and solutions. This system completely removes the risk factor, relying on technology to determine when and where cargo ends up, all in a simple, comprehensive system.
