Economic Travel Efforts Supported with Open Skies Air Transport Agreement

Sharelines

  • The new Agreement expands the framework of U.S. Open Skies agreements with over 120 partners.
  • The two countries joined efforts in the airline commerce sector, which aligned long-term goals for economic increase.
  • This creates greater opportunities for airlines, travelers, businesses, shippers, airports, workers, and localities.

The United States and Republic of Congo announced the agreement to confirm the strengthening of aviation-based economic ties among the countries.

Benefits of the air transport agreement include the creation of  unrestricted market access for both passenger and cargo airlines and higher security standards compliance from both governments. With the agreement in place, economic development opportunities are increased and restrictions are decreased.

According to the release announcing the agreement, “In doing so, the Agreement will facilitate travel and commerce between the United States and the Republic of the Congo.  This includes greater opportunities for airlines, travelers, businesses, shippers, airports, workers, and localities.

The new Agreement expands the framework of U.S. Open Skies agreements with over 120 partners.  This framework enables U.S. air carriers to operate and expand flight networks far beyond America’s borders and connects the U.S. economy to growing markets abroad,” (USDS).

The agreement was confirmed earlier this week as both countries joined efforts in the travel commerce sector, which aligned long-term goals to lay the groundwork for major economic advantages for the U.S. and Republic of Congo. As additional details are released and confirmed, it is likely that additional expansion, market opportunities, and partnerships will present themselves.
